  • NuFlora's genesis as an international plant breeding company involved the establishment of international plant protection laws in the late 1980's and the development of new facilities for the University of Sydney's Plant Breeding Institute at Cobbitty NSW.
  • The opportunity to create career opportunities in the field of horticulture through PhD projects for Australian youth using the skills of cereal breeding while offering advanced laboratory facilities and commercial expertise remains a fundamental part of NuFlora's commitment to the field of horticulture.

NuFlora has cultivated strong partnerships with many of the world’s leading plant distributors, such as Selecta One, GreenFuse Botanicals, and Proven Winners.

These relationships have blossomed through our continued development of unique plant products that continue to satisfy the global market.

We actively work with our distributors to assess market conditions, develop new and innovative cultivars, trial cultivars in various international markets, and ultimately distribute and sell our products.

NuFlora International Pty Ltd was formed as a cooperative enterprise with the University of Sydney through its Plant Breeding Institute in Cobbitty NSW, Mal Morgan as CEO & Marketing Manager, and Graham Brown as Research & Development Director.

Established Glenfield Wholesale Nursery Pty Ltd
In 1979, Mal & his wife Jan established the production company Glenfield Wholesale Nursery Pty Ltd. The nursery currently operates on two sites and specialises in pot production.

Established Protected Plants Pty Ltd
In 1988, Mal established Protected Plants Pty Ltd which manages intellectual property, sales, marketing, product development, and plant breeding.

Established NuFlora International Pty Ltd
In 2000, Mal established NuFlora International Pty Ltd, a specialised plant breeding company in conjunction with Graham Brown, and the University of Sydney. Mal took the mantle of CEO & Marketing Manager.

Established Morgan Oates and Brown Pty Ltd
In 2017, Morgan Oates and Brown Pty Ltd was established as a joint venture company with John Oates, Mal Morgan and Graham Brown.

  • Graham has over 50 years of plant breeding expertise to his pursuits
  • Graham has over 30 years of experience in commercial ornamental plant breeding

In 1973, Graham began his career at the University Sydney's Plant Breeding Institute.

In 2000, Graham established NuFlora International Pty Ltd, a specialised plant breeding company in conjunction with Mal Morgan and the University of Sydney.

Established Aloe Breeding Program
In 2006, Graham establised an Aloe breeding program alongside Mal Morgan which was incorporated into Morgan Oates and Brown Pty Ltd.

In 2017, Morgan Oates and Brown Pty Ltd was established as a joint venture company with John Oates, Mal Morgan and Graham Brown.

Dr. Ruijun Li

Senior Plant Breeder

  • In 2005, Ruijun completed his PhD, co-sponsored by Selecta in Verbena breeding
  • Ruijun has continued his research, successfully releasing many varieties of Verbena
  • Ruijun's dedication and excellence in breeding has been recognised with the prestigious USA AA-S award for one of his 'Beat' Verbenas
